Activities

In the Garden Route and in Knysna and surrounds specifically, there is an abundance of things to do and things to see.  All the outdoor holidaymaker can possible want, from forest to lagoon to ocean and beach.

Forest

Walking & hiking trails. The famous Knysna forest has a lot of well signed trails for you, varying from 1 to 4 hours or even the multiple day walks might attract you. Tony from Knysna Forest Tours will be able to show you around. Alternatively, we have maps available for the D.I.Y’ers amongst you.

Mountain Biking. Same forest, same beauty but different speed. For everybody, from the fit and the almost fit. We have maps or have our man Tony (the same one as above) take you on one of his grand tours.

Walking on the beach? This ecological experience is a bit more than that…  Or we’ll point you in the right direction, armed with some local maps.

Water and beach

Sailing.  On a yacht, or on a catamaran.  Through the Knysna Heads or just cruising on the lagoon, with champagne and oysters.

Featherbed Eco Experience. This is the famous 4 hour tour across the lagoon to the Featherbed Nature reserve on the Western Head.  It includes a 2.2 km walk down and a lunch buffet.

Beach.  Knysna has beautiful sandy beaches at Brenton on sea and Buffel’s Bay.  On Leisure Isle, in the lagoon, there is a cosy beach as well, Bollard Bay.

Scuba Diving. With the guys from Hippo Dive Campus. They offer shore entry dives to the wreck of the Paquita and Tapas Jetty on Thesen Island, where the famous Knysna Seahorse may be found. And Boat dives in and out of the Knysna Heads, to some of the most awesome dive sites along the garden route.  If you’d like more, visit Plettenberg Bay.

Whale Watching.  At its best in our winter and spring (June – November) when the whales are mating in the bay of Plettenberg or migrating westwards.

Air

This would definitely be for the more adventurous…

Paragliding. There are several spots in this area where one could take off from.

Skydiving. By far not for everyone!  But apparently good fun for those wanting to know what it feels like to have their cheeks behind their ears

Bunjee Jumping. We are not sure why we are telling you this. You probably know why they call their company Face Adrenaline - highest in the world!
